Peter and Josi’s Newsletter - June 2018 - Part 2

Peter and Josi’s Newsletter - June 2018 - Part 2

Dears Friends,

Greetings once again in Jesus Wonderful Name!  Thankyou to all for your continued support
and prayers.  This is Part 2 of our June Newsletter and we hope the 1st part was a great
encouragement and blessing to all!
The picture above is a remembrance of the word Tom Bloomer gave at the JOCUM in Family
Reunion we attended last December about Education.  Since then Christian Teachers and
Educators have been mobilising. When we heard Tom Bloomer at the reunion we realised
how important the word was…..and we need to act upon this!…. Josi called a meeting of
teachers and educators at the reunion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DqP7zs50_Y
The short video recorded moments of this meeting and Josi sharing. Please watch….it has
English subtitles which can be switched on and a transcript below the video.

Since last December YWAM Christian Teachers and Educators in Brazil now have a
whatsapp group to support, prayer and help each other And Josi has been responsible
for organizing a YWAM Workshop for Education a Christian Biblical Worldview.  I
will let Josi share in her own words (Translated) - “I felt very challenged and inspired by the
words of Tom Bloomer, so as soon as he finished speaking I knew exactly what I should do,
because I felt God speaking very clearly to me to meet with other YWAM educators at the
Family Reunion and organize a meeting.  I called everyone and we had our meeting and
we all had the same feeling that we needed to unite more in working together with our
schools and to seek God together to understand His heart about education at this time in
the discipleship of nations.
So the next step, I felt we should have a group on Whatsapp to pray for and know what
we should do to strengthen us, this group has been wonderful and now has 66 educators
and Teachers.  We want to inspire each other and speak of our schools, our challenges,
victories and praying for each other.
Also create a prayer list as there were requests on many subjects and always new ones
to pray for. All this happens in the whatsapp group. We have inspired others who also
want to start a school for children at their bases. With all the excitement about the
Education Workshop, I knew we need someone from the Education Faculty (YWAM
University of the Nations) with our group, so it we are very happy to have Ruth Golden
confirmed to be with us at the Workshop. So we're counting the days for our Education
Workshop in July. I believe it will be a watershed, because for many years we have
walked without much connection with each other, but I think God has something very
special for us here in Brazil. We have 9 schools in Brazil from Jocum, with Infant and
primary education, with about 1,000 pupils, and about 80 teachers every day in our
schools and classrooms. God has called my attention to share this in the group,
speaking that education is a very fertile field.  God has delivered into our hands,
a generation of teachers, educators, children, adolescents and families to disciple
through education, so we want to do this. Josi.
The Workshop of Education” which will be 28 - 30th July 2018 and will be held
at JOCUM Contagem. We need to be at this very important Workshop and we still
need to purchase flight tickets, transport also warm clothes. At this time of year the
South of Brazil is quite cold compared to the North East of Brazil where we live.
With flight tickets, transport etc we need to raise over R$3000 reais ( £600 UK pounds)
We would be grateful for your prayers and help.

The Up and Down Lines Picture
In our April Newsletter I mentioned if anyone has any old Christian posters and prints they
would kindly like to donate. I also mentioned a picture which would be most welcome called
the  “The Up and the Down Lines” issued in the 1880s. Well, it seems miraculous to me,
a few weeks later I spotted one for sale on Ebay and was able to secure it with a bid of £7.95!
The seller told me he had never seen one for sale before on Ebay. and he has
been selling on Ebay since 1999!
The photo is of Dorothy with the old print well over 130 years old. Of course Dorothy
was intrigued by this and enjoyed hearing me explain the small pictures with Bible
verses and scriptures in the picture and what they meant. An historic picture from
the age of Steam in Victorian Britain. How the world has changed since then!
…..A poster which was used widely to make the Gospel known in a way many
who travelled the railway would understand. I am rejoicing and praising the Lord
very much I was able to find this rare historic picture which has been all but
forgotten. Sometimes it was hung in homes as a companion picture to the Broad
and Narrow Way. Even though the copy I had was quite battered and torn, the
colour was very good and I was able to digitally restore it and is now re-published
and available as posters, prints and much more! Please visit our online store.

Gentlemen - The Chiffon Top would make a very nice gift for wives, daughters or girlfriends - As a bonus take them for a trip on a Steam Railway ride too!. For Railway Buffs - this is to good to miss!    For more information about this fascinating picture - http://pictureswithamessage.com/blog.htm

Prayer

We give thanks to God for all the many answers to prayer and the friends and partners in
mission He gives us.

Please pray for the Education Workshop in July - only a few weeks away. We trust the Lord
to provide for us to go and all the things we need to organise. We believe it will be a very
important time for YWAM Brazil Education for the next steps.

Please continue to pray for Crianças do Rei and for suitable space - and for volunteers.
The families that are being served are very needy.

Please pray  for a new laptop computer, and washing machine, fridges, microwave etc...
There is a mounting list of things broken and need replacing -  chairs, tables too many things
to write. With all the things we need to accomplish, fix and  replace - finance is often like a
rubber band - and we see how far it stretches, what needs to be done first. But we do our
best and so we give thanks to God for all who help and pray.

Please continue to pray for safety and security - Brazil continues to face many challenging times.

Please continue to pray, It would be nice to visit the UK again - I have not visited since 2007.
Perhaps time to visit and meet up with family and friends again.

******************************
World Cup Extra -  The TV broke along time ago.……but it makes it even more special when
I visit the local corner shop, walk in and see England on the flat screen playing and the
scoreline at 6 x 1!  I must be dreaming! Kkkkk Hope I don't walk in when they are being
massacred!

*******************************
With love and best wishes
Peter, Josi and Dorothy
