Peter and Josi's Newsletter - September 2018

Peter and Josi’s Newsletter - September 2018

Dear Friends,     Greetings once again in Jesus wonderful Name! Thank you to all, for your
prayers, support and messages!

Since our last news regarding visiting the UK. we are still in need of prayer but we trust the
Lord will make a way!  A friend kindly found a discounted flight for ‎£1,510 GBP for all three
of us to travel 13th December - Return Brazil 4 February 2019. But the flight can only be
held reserved for 2 days.  ‎£500 UK pounds has been raised so far….but we would need to
raise the remaining cost to to book the flight. I am sending this message out quickly should
anyone wish to help. Thank you to all who have prayed and for your help so far! God bless
you!
The Workshop of Education28 - 30th July 2018
Certainly organizing the Workshop of Education has been a roller-coaster - Thank you to all
who enabled us through prayer and finance for us to be at the Workshop!  As Josi was
organizing...you can imagine how busy we were and still are busy mobilizing Christian
educators in Brazil. Important news, Praise the Lord! - We now have the UofN College
of Education Curriculum - “Educating for Life” program translated into Portuguese! After
searching on google, I discovered an online translator https://www.onlinedoctranslator.com/
I translated over two nights what must be over 800 pages!….(If anyone needs help translating
large documents let me know and I can explain). The Portuguese translation still needs
revision and correction to be ready for publishing..but Josi said it was good.
Please pray - Josi is helping to bring together volunteers to help with revision and correction.
With a Biblical Worldview it is envisaged the Curriculum will help a great many Christian
educators Brazil. Training for this is being planned. The Workshop last July at YWAM
Contagem went amazingly well, it certainly wasn't without a certain amount of trepidation
before we started...but a lot of prayers were answered and the key speaker Ruth Golden
being exactly the right person to facilitate and help participants come together. We look
forward to all the Lord will do in the future and for the training for the Educating for Life
curriculum…….We will share more in following newsletters all being well!

The Gospel Target for Soldiers and Volunteers
The search for old forgotten posters continues and I get to be picture Detective! Thank
you for your prayers! Recently I was on the lookout for another picture by W. C. Miles....
called the Gospel Target for Soldiers and Volunteers. Eventually with the help of the
Museum of Army Chaplaincy at Amport House, Andover UK. I was able to obtain photos
of an original copy they have at the Museum.  The Curator - Mr David Blake has been
most helpful and a great help with research about the mysterious W. C. Miles. There
is very little information readily available, but gradually the information has been coming
together and it is fascinating! Shortly I should have have something more to share with
this intriguing subject. The Gospel Target is an extremely well designed and conceived
picture. Full of Bible verses and scenes which illustrate various themes in the life of a soldier.
It just so happened it was Soldiers day in Brazil - 25th of August - What an opportunity for
the picture! But I had a lot of work to make the picture ready and translated into Portuguese!
- But we were able the following week to have a 2 metre high banner printed…The junior
school has been looking at the picture as part of it's devotionals and reflecting on Bible
verses and themes in the poster. ... it must be over 135 ago since the original picture was
made. It was originally created to help British soldiers but it can be for soldiers of all nations.

September the 7th marked Brazilian Independence day so we continued studying the picture
in our school devotionals. When we asked the children if they each wanted to have a poster -
virtually all  their hands went up! So we prayed in agreement to the Lord to provide the
means to make posters available for each child. We also pray we might be able to provide
the poster free of charge to children in other schools, we would like to visit with the Gospel
Target poster and also military personnel here. Please pray in agreement with us!

Project Criancas do Rei
Criancas do Rei continues despite the challenges here. Please pray - The children and
families we are helping are extremely needy.

“Sabado Legal” - Saturday Childrens church

Recently we had the best attendance for a Saturday morning - 84 children…..we also had
more volunteers thankfully.  Please pray - with the new children we need to provide snacks.

Prayer and Praise
Answers to prayer - we were able to purchase a new Fridge and Microwave - Praise the
Lord! Please continue to pray for Crianças do Rei - also for volunteers. (Answer to prayer -
A Christian lady from France stayed with us for some weeks during August which was a
great encouragement - also a big help with translating the Gospel Target and some pages
in French for my website featuring the Broad and the Narrow Way picture -
Thank you Lucie! The English page on the website regularly has at least 2 - 6 visitors a day
from all over the world - and that's just one page! Although I don't know how many visitors I
am getting for the rest of the website (I need to set up counters)….but I do know it is being
visited and need to keep the site up to date.

Please continue to pray for safety and security - Brazil continues to face many challenging
times.   Recently the Museum of Brazil which has the biggest collection for all of Brazil's
history - Went up in flames. Also shortly afterwards one of the leading contenders to
become president Bolsonaro was stabbed in public while campaigning. He is recovering
in Hospital. While ex president Lula who served two terms in office is in prison - there
was talk of him  being released to run for president but it seems unlikely now.

Please continue to pray  - We give thanks to the Lord for the wonderful way our laptop is
still functioning well after two years!  Our printer (which we keep very busy but is having
problems printing black.) We still have a need for a new washing machine… Also
maintenance for the school structure. Recently high winds which thankfully have died
down a bit - probably a cousin of Hurricane Florence has been battering us. The
strongest winds I have known here.  All we can do is commit our ways unto the Lord
- He sees everything… including my emergency repairs holding the roof down!

With love and best wishes
Peter, Josi and Dorothy
